About Compendium3

Compendium3 is a curator's index of websites, maintained as a structured reference to the open web. It organises 829 catalogued entries into 22 subject sections, from motor vehicles and legal practice to leisure travel and general reference. The index does not rank sites or assign authority scores — it records their existence, subject category, and web address in the manner of a card catalog.

Each entry in the Compendium3 record is reviewed before admission. The curator checks that the submitted site is accessible, that its stated subject corresponds to the section it is placed in, and that it is not a duplicate of an existing record. Sites that pass these checks are admitted; those that do not are declined or deferred. The catalog grows incrementally, one verified entry at a time.

The index is organised by subject, not by site authority or commercial relationship. The 22 sections reflect the principal categories into which the curator has divided the accessible web — a pragmatic taxonomy rather than a formal classification system. Where a site does not fit neatly into one of the named sections, it is placed in General Reference, the index's open shelf.

Compendium3 is free to browse and free to list in. There are no fees, no membership requirements, and no account needed to submit a site. The submission form is open at all times; the review process is the only gate between submission and publication. Approved entries join the catalog without further action from the submitter.

The index is intended as a working reference tool, not a promotional directory. It is most useful to those who want a structured view of what exists online in a particular subject area, without the filtering effects of algorithmic search. Researchers, practitioners, and casual browsers alike are welcome to consult and contribute to the Compendium3 record.
